Important information for Promise Grant applicants

• You must be a California resident or an AB540 eligible student to qualify for the CA College Promise Grant.
• You will be required to pay $1 per unit for student union fees (max $10 for the year) and $5 per semester for student activity fees.
  • The $1/unit student union fees may be waived if you are receiving TANF, CalWORKs, SSI, or General Assistance. Supplemental documentation dated within 60 days will be requested to validate eligibility.

  What happens if I lose my CA College Promise Grant eligibility?

  In order for you to keep your CA College Promise Grant status you must:

  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0
  • Successfully complete at least 50 percent of all units attempted

  If you are not able to meet these standards for two consecutive primary terms (fall and spring), it will result in loss of fee waiver eligibility. You will receive a notice that you have been placed on probation and will have one semester to meet both standards. If these standards are not met, you will lose your CA College Promise Grant.

  How can I get my CA College Promise Grant eligibility back?

  If you meet one of the following criteria, you may appeal your loss of the CA College Promise Grant.

  • Extenuating circumstances (accident, illness, or change in economic situation).
  • Significant academic improvement (2.0 GPA and 50 percent completion rate in the last term).
  • Verified disability with accommodation not received in a timely manner.
  • Unable to obtain essential support services.
  • Are a participant in the CalWORKS, EOPS, DSS, or Veterans program

  To appeal, please complete the CA College Promise Grant Appeal Form no later than:

  • Summer 2024: July 25, 2024
  • Fall 2024: December 6, 2024
  • Spring 2025: May 2, 2025

  All financial aid students are required to check their DVC student email account through InSite on a regular basis in order to receive notifications, file status updates, announcements, and further instructions from the Financial Aid Office.
